Instagram wants to help you choose what pictures you see and when (Like it's parent company Facebook) by using algorithms to determine important pictures.
When you log into your account on the web, the features or experience you encountered is quite different compared to the mobile platform. Although, your account is quite visible, still you're able to browse through your photos and that's like how much you can do. Everything else was absent.
However, Instagram recently changed it's features on web with the introduction of the notifications tab, a little heart-in-a-circle icon in the upper right corner which shows you a feed of activities related to your account. The activities or functions include:
- Seeing anyone who recently followed,
- Tagged you,
- Liked your posts or
- Commented on them.
- The Explore tab is missing, meaning you can only see your own posts and the posts of your friends. It will be challenging finding something fresh.
- Also, the Activity tab only shows activities related to your posts, not to those of your followers (unlike on mobile).
- Having the option to Add Account - is still missing from the web version as well.
Nevertheless, with this latest addition users might actually want to open Instagram on the web every now and then. I guess, time will tell and propel further innovations to radiate in the Instagram world!
