Instagram Now Has 1 Billion Download In The Play Store

Instagram is definitely here to stay. Coming from a rough journey which begins with a brief spell with the IPhone platform, setting a global admiration for the Apple manufactured product before migrating to Android for series of innovative records to date.

Instagram, the visual messaging app was launched years back in 2010 on the Android platform. However, the year 2012 witnessed Mark Zuckerberg’s company – Facebook acquiring Instagram for a whopping $1 Billion. Well, that value has confidently nurtured up to a worthy investment considering the milestone Instagram currently standing on with a 1 Billion downloads in the Play Store. Instagram is more like Facebook’s baby of the house of the house as it equals the 1 Billion download feat achieved by Facebook, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger.

With this development, it simply positions Instagram as the 19th app in Google’s Play Store to hit 1 Billion downloads, finally settles in the class of other Facebook apps and Google’s apps. Meanwhile, Gmail was the first to hit the 1 Billion mark, next was Google Maps, and followed by YouTube and Facebook respectively. More so, these two giants US-tech (Google and Facebook) are the only two developers or publishers currently to record apps with the 1 Billion download mark. But considering their heavy customer, and fan base – it shouldn’t be that surprising.

I’m patiently waiting to see the next app to stamp its presence on the 1 Billion download thereby occupying the position number 20. Perhaps, it could be someone's app from my Bloggers Worldwide family? Who knows?

But, hopefully, with time, the frequent reaching of such milestones won’t lose its appeal or become less interesting or unique. A new person, identity or brand, attaining such milestone should make it more exciting to keep tabs on considering Google and Facebook continuous dominance on the list.

A look at the tech world reveals Snapchat and Twitter, both apps gradually growing with ease and enjoying a good year so far. Snapchat comfortably occupies large space online presence same as Instagram, while Twitter strongly shares same statistics and spot with Snapchat. Twitter is also widely used as a social media marketing platform.

It definitely feels great seeing, nurturing a product to eventually grow to global heights with large and enjoyable customer based – these and many more reasons or satisfaction will developers behind Instagram, Facebook joyously express with their efforts largely appreciated and rewarding. Pure joy to the core!

  6. Who would have thought! Instagram is one of the best social media sites available, I honestly think they have reached their 1 billion mark a long time ago. Mark definitely did the right thing by purchasing it.

  10. We love IG but sad that the Facebook people has turned it into a marketing thingy.Well, I've known it's already being used for such purpose, but to make it official makes it a bit cold for me. I still love it though.

  11. I think Instagram can attribute its success to being constantly innovative and listening to its customers. The only move of instagram i dont like is the instagram stories because it's such a ripoff of snapchat
