According to data statistics from Social Blade, Bieber is ranked sixth biggest Instagrammer in the world, boasting of 77.9 million Instagram followers, while his following 75 users and has posted 3,779 images and videos.
The Canadian singer, over the weekend, informed his fans on his plans to set his account to private if fans continued to harass his new found love – Sofia Richie, 17, daughter of music legend Lionel Richie.
Apparently, faithful fans of Selena Gomez, 24, his ex-didn't take the post lightly as they ensued pandemonium on the singer’s new photos which prompted him threatening to limit access to the public.
“I'm gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don't stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn't be so mean to people that I like.” Said Bieber.
Meanwhile, Gomez and Bieber later had a heated back and forth comments about Bieber’s threat.

Gomez then replied,
“If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol - it should be special between you two only. Don't be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone.”
Bieber further responded with: “It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love".
“I'm not one for anyone receiving hate. Hope u all can be kind to my friends and each other. And yes I love my beliebers.”
However, these developments are related to constant social media hostility people face daily and seem clearly there's no restriction to guide such act. If these act becomes a norm trend, that may result to the damage of such social media platform.
